Privacy Policy
The short version: your challenges, check-ins, and money totals live on your phone and nowhere else. There are no accounts, no bank linking, and no ads. The only thing that ever leaves your device is optional, anonymous usage stats — and you can turn those off in Settings.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Kept is stored locally on your device:
- Your challenges, rules, and their dates
- Daily check-ins and slips
- Amounts you log for urges and the money-kept totals they add up to
- Reminder preferences and onboarding answers
We have no server and no way to see any of it. If your device is backed up with iCloud or your computer, Kept's data is included in that backup like any other app's, under Apple's backup encryption — that's between your device and Apple, and it never comes to us.
Anonymous usage stats (optional)
To understand which parts of Kept are useful, the app can send anonymous usage events to Mixpanel, an analytics service. When this is on, an event looks like "a check-in happened" or "a share card was exported."
What's included:
- The event name and coarse, non-identifying details (for example, an amount range like "26–50" — never the actual amount)
- A random identifier created on install, used to count things like "how many people came back this week." It isn't tied to your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID — we never ask for any of those
- Basic device context (device model, iOS version, app version, language)
What's never included: your name or any contact detail, your challenge rules, your notes, raw money amounts, or anything you typed. Mixpanel uses your IP address at the moment an event arrives to derive an approximate location (city level) and does not store the IP itself with your events. You can read Mixpanel's privacy policy.
Turning it off: Settings → "Share anonymous usage stats." The switch takes effect immediately and also discards anything queued.
Notifications
If you turn on a reminder, it's scheduled locally on your device by iOS. Nothing about your reminders is sent anywhere.
What we never do
- No accounts and no sign-in — we can't identify you, by design
- No bank linking or financial data access, ever
- No ads and no advertising SDKs
- No selling or sharing data with data brokers
- No tracking you across other apps or websites
Deleting your data
Deleting the app deletes everything Kept stored on your device. Because analytics are anonymous, they can't be traced back to you — but if you'd like the random install identifier's events deleted anyway, email us the request and we'll work with Mixpanel to honor it where technically possible.
Children
Kept is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, and delete personal data. Kept collects no personal data linked to you, so in most cases there is nothing we hold that could identify you — but you can always contact us and we'll help however we can, including the analytics deletion described above.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
